Description
ill just have to keep drawing, and get more money, and eventually ill be able to go home. yep. thats the plan.
win contest. pay tuition. win contest pay tuition. graduate
Thousand Dollar Drawing
The Murray & Murray Contest: The Director's Project
this is my entry for the annual contest in my university.
im in first year - Architecture.
i won the contest yay
"if i dont win this, i wont have enough to pay for next term. gaahh. gotta draw"
Background story:
this annual contest has been running for 40 years.
and no first year student has won it. ever. until THIS year.
and i am darn proud of myself. (hey, its not bad to be proud of yourself, right?
it's mandatory. so everyone joins.
100+ first years
maybe 80 second years
maybe 60 third years
maybe 50 fourth years
and maybe 30 more people doing their master's degree
im so scared of not winning cause my rendering was crap compared to the top picks.
but im only confident about my content.
i had 4 days to do this,
and 3 of those 4 days, i had to go to Work (grocery part timer) then draw at night
i won, and i got a thousand dollars.
all went to my tuition fund. haha.
best thing is, people know me now. at least.
felt surreal when im holding the prize envelope.
never had that much in my hand ever. its a crazy amount. and even crazier if i spend it back in the philippines. but no. i have to spend it wisely
bad thing is, glory stops there
all my drawings assignments got zeros.
(gah. i hate pencil. i wanna do ink)
"yay! 2 day popularity!"
Rules:
This year's rules -
Design a Dream-Space within the Campus
Draw on a 2x3 feet paper.
Use Only Pencil
My Design:
The Carleton Beacon
an unfinished, building-gate-bridge to be put on the riverside on campus.
it's high. has a flame. and darn detailed
its basically my Gothic-Industrial [link] drawing morphed into a structure. instead of a landscape
hmm. 5 more contests and i can buy a gibson les paul.
i wish i win next year again.
"whew. i love how this year started"
